Turning a Corner...

I love the term turning a corner... It has a positive connotation. Otherwise, we would say backsliding, wouldn't we? But rather than a term such as improving, the term turning a corner tells me that something positive is happening.

I love this photo of the corner vine. It draws attention to the doorway to the right and leaves me wondering what treasures I'll find within.

National Book Lover's Day

It's National Book Lover's Day. What a wonderful thing? It's a great day to celebrate writing, books, e-readers and everything to do with the written word. My way to celebrate is to go into a book store and just sit down with every book I can cram into the day.

Okay... I don't market much on here, but here's another great way to celebrate... buy one of my books.... Yep, there I said it.

Whatever you decide to do... Have a great day.

George and the Missing G

Has it ever happened to you...? You proof a story word-by-word and letter-by-letter and one minute error slips through anyway...?

The publisher stole a "g" from page 16 of George's book. No matter how hard he looks and how many people he sends out in the posse, he won't find it.

Whacha doing there, Max?

Wha? I'm looking for George's G. It's gotta be here somewhere.

Dream Big 1

"fly free"

Water and a piling are the favorite spots of seagulls.

This perch is empty.

He's flying free... dreaming big.

Under the Leaves

"under the leaves"

Inspiration for writing, painting, drawing, dreaming comes from everywhere. The leaves of this giant bird of paradise in the courtyard blew aside and I saw all the wonderful textures underneath. I captured them with my camera as I thought it would be a good drawing exercise. I'll give it a try and get back to you with how I do. Brace yourselves. It might be terrible.

I'm a writer. I've always written. That comes naturally to me. Starting drawing has given my creativity new life. I'm not good at it. That's not modesty... it's the truth. Rather than being discouraged, I'm finding the challenge of it has kicked my brain into a gear I didn't know I had.

You might want to try something you've always thought you couldn't do. Seeing little steps of progress has been exciting, but it goes beyond drawing. It's given me a new enthusiasm for writing as well.

Have a good weekend.
