Writing Practice... it's important
Good Morning.... Happy Fourth of July.
You may not be thinking about writing today. Although, I imagine you think about writing everyday no matter whether its a holiday or just a regular ol' work day. Anyway, I was re-reading Natalie Goldberg's book Writing Down the Bones yesterday and I started thinking how much time I spend in practicing my writing.
Do you participate in writing practice? I do, but it took me along time to suspend my impatience for it. You see, I like to be productive and I often try to skim over practice because my writing "to do" list is long and I want to get to the work at hand. If you do the same, think about what you're doing.
Even great pianists practice...
Even great tennis players practice...
Even great eaters at hot dog eating contests practice...
Okay... I made my case. we should all practice. So, this morning I found a wonderful blog about writing practice. It's called red Ravine. It might help you get into the swing of it. Take a look. I hope it helps. And if you do increase your writing practice time, let me know what it does for your writing in the long run. (After you read the page on Writing Practice, click on the Home button and take a look at the rest of the blog). Very nice
Have a great day.
