Write from the soul, not from some notion of what you think the marketplace wants. The market is fickle; the soul is eternal. ~ Jeffrey A. CarverI often find myself searching the writing magazines for market information. What's hot? What's not? Those topics sell magazines. It's good to keep up on what's going on, but by the time you write a novel based on what's hot today, that trend will be over. And chances are if you force yourself to write for the current market, your heart won't be in it. I think it's always better to write or create art from the soul. It'll find an audience.
Have a great weekend.

Ah, so true in painting as well...we need to tatto this on our....forearm?? The soul will connect regardless the media.
I am with you. I want a book that resonates with ME first, everyone else second. If it doesn't, it isn't really mine at all.
I couldn't agree more.
It is the only way I can create...any other way just wouldn’t work for me.
Or not but at least you won't have sold your soul for a bit of nothing.
