Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader—not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon." ~ E.L. Doctorow
I love this quote. What an easy way to remind yourself that you must evoke emotion in order to pull your readers into your story. Strive to make your readers feel, smell, hear, taste and see your story and they will savor your writing.
Have a great and productive day.

That is my goal when I write... but I am not sure I am achieving it.
All I can do is keep writing and growing; hopefully I’ll get there one day.
thank you for this great advice!
Very good advice, and easy to miss when you get wrapped up in plot.

Yes.you're right: that is a good quote.
Trouble is my writing comes without my being 'at home' so to speak. It never seems to have anything to do with me. It goes through me like a dose of salts. Never takes me more than the time I need to type it. When I look at it later I always think: "Who wrote that?".
This means that revision is an intrusion in my view, as it was never mine to begin with. And I would never know where to start.
